1.
Flock Tags and Scrapie Tags MUST be in the ear of every
sheep consigned. Registration papers are optional for all
entries. Transfers of all papered animals are private treaty
between buyer and seller.
2. Entry fees ($20 per head) along with a sale entry
form must be sent in postmarked no later than March 1st.
Entries sent in after the entry deadline will be charged
double entry fees.
3. All entries must be slick sheared above the knees and
hocks.
4. Non Sale entered sheep are not allowed in the barns.
5. Health Regulations: All sheep must have an individual
health certificate upon arrival at the fairgrounds – no
exceptions! Health papers must include: “Premises Free of
Foot Rot” as attested by your local veterinarian. Health
Certificate must have been issued within 30 days of the sale
and all Scrapie Identification must be noted on certificate.
6. Elisa Tests are required for Yearling Rams and
September/October Born Ram Lambs: Must have evidence of a
negative test for an individual Elisha tests attached to the
health papers of all rams that are six months or older the
day of the sale. The test must be administered within 20
days prior to the sale date.
7. Penning assignments will be made prior to the sale;
all consignors must use the designated pens. Any special
penning requests must accompany your sale entries. Requests
will be honored if at all possible.
8. Sale Guarantee:
a. All guarantees shall constitute a contract between
the buyer and seller only, and no other parties assume any
liability, legal or otherwise, expressed or implied.
b. Every sheep (Ram or Ewe) sold will be guaranteed as a
breeder if properly handled. It shall be the responsibility
of the buyer to return a non-breeder to the seller in
acceptable breeding condition. The seller, after a fair
trial and the animal is found to be a non-breeder, shall
have the privilege of replacing the animal with one of equal
value to the satisfaction of the buyer and seller, or
refunding the purchase price. This guarantee shall not apply
to any sheep that are shown subsequent to the date of the
sale. Any consignor failing to comply with this rule will
automatically be barred from consigning any sheep to the
following Black and White Club Lamb Country sale.
c. Notification of non-breeder rams must be made to
the seller prior to January 1 following the sale;
notification of non-breeder ewes must be made to the
seller prior to April 1 following the sale.
d. Any lambs that drop their lambs teeth prior to the 12
months of age as determined by their registration paper or
sellers declared birthdates, shall be replaced with a lamb
of equal quality to the satisfaction of the buyer and seller
within a reasonable amount of time; or the consignor shall
refund the purchase price of the lambs promptly with all
fees and percentages levied against such a lamb retained by
the sale. It shall be the responsibility of the buyer to
notify the consignor, and then the sale manager(s) if such a
problem occurs. Any consignor failing to comply with this
rule will automatically be barred from consigning any sheep
to the following Black and White Club Lamb Country sale.
e. Neither the Sale Managers nor the Sale Committee can or
will assume any responsibility as to the authenticity of the
pedigrees, bloodline or DNA information provided by the
consignor, or otherwise, and the subsequent genetic
performance of any sheep purchased. All such information
must be accepted at face value. Any special guarantees or
claims offered by individual consignors is strictly between
the consignor and buyer, and will not be enforced by the
sale management or committee.
9. The number of sheep selling will be limited only by
soundness and quality as determined by the judge and/or sale
committee. Entry fees will not be refunded for animals that
are sifted and fail to make the sale. There is no limit to
the number of sale entries per consignor.
10. In each the class the top 10 to 15 animals will be
placed, and all other animals in the class will be random
drawn for sale order.
11. Wethers: All wethers must have their testicles and
scrotum removed.
12. Rams, Ewes and Wethers are allowed to show from the
following breeds: Dorset, Shropshire, Southdown, Suffolk,
Speckle-faced, Natural Colored, Hampshire and Crossbred. All
Lambs will be divided by weight (January 1 born and after).
Falls classes will be divided by age September 1 to December
31 of previous year – with Dorset and Southdowns divided
into an early fall (Sept.-October) and late fall
(November-December) classes. Yearlings are any sheep born
after January 1 to August 31 of previous year.
13. Show order will be by breed selling Rams then Ewes
then Wethers.
14. Sale order Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion
Rams, Ewes, then Wethers followed by the breeds (rams, ewes,
then wethers) in the following order:

2008 -- Suffolk, Shropshire, Dorsets, Natural Colored,
Speckle-faced, Cross, Southdown,
Hampshires
b.
2009 – Natural Colored, Dorsets, Speckle-faced, Cross,
Southdown, Hampshire, Shropshires,
Suffolk
c.
2010 – Cross, Speckle-faced, Hampshire, Southdown,
Suffolk, Shropshire, Dorset, Natural Colored.
d.
2011 – Hampshires, Southdowns, Suffolk Shropshires,
Dorsets, Natural Colored, Speckle-faced,
Cross
e.
Repeat the cycle.
15. Parking:
Trucks and trailers are to use specified
parking areas as determined by Grady Co. Fairgrounds Staff
16. The Black and White Sale Committee and Management
reserve the right to refuse any entries for failure to
comply with any of the rules of the sale. |
